BabyLit Little Poets

These endearing board books introduce little ones to the beauty of the words and sounds of poetry, and will be appreciated by parents as well as children. Each book includes two separate stories: the larger text is a simple narrative based on the original poem, and on each page, the words of that simple story are paired with a line written by the poet. 

 -Emily Dickinson: “What’s in Emily’s Garden? Sunlight…” paired with “I’ll tell you how the Sun rose—a Ribbon at a time…”; “Bees" paired with “From some old Fortress on the sun Baronial Bees—march—one by one…”.

 -Walt Whitman: “Everything is a miracle” paired with “As to me I know of nothing else but miracles,” “The moon and stars” paired with “Or of stars shining so quiet and bright, Or the exquisite, delicate, thin curve of the new moon in spring.”

 - William Shakespeare: “I love you because you are…Precious as a jewel” paired with “For well thou know’st to my dear doting heart Thou art the fairest and most precious jewel   Bright as a flower Nor did I wonder at the lily’s white, Nor praise the deep vermilion in the rose; They were but sweet, but figures of delight, Drawn after you, you pattern of all those.”

 -Robert Frost: “This way? That way? I don’t know.” Paired with “And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood… But fewer people have gone this way—“ paired with “Oh, I kept the first for another day!”

Lively illustrations beautifully illustrate the text. The four books will see a young child through many years. The set includes:

 In Emily’s Garden (quoted text from the poems of Emily Dickinson)

Miracles Everywhere (quoted text are excerpts from “Miracles” by Walt Whitman, from his larger work Leaves of Grass)

I Love You (quoted text from various sonnets and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare)

Two Roads (quoted text from “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost).

The books are printed on either recycled, 100% post-consumer waste, FSC-certified papers or on paper produced from sustainable PEFC-certified/controlled wood source.
