Monet Water Lilies Silk Chiffon Scarf
The design of this scarf is based on the NymphĂ©as (âWater Liliesâ) paintings made by Claude Monet of the pond at his home in Normandy. The artist moved to Giverny in 1883, and ten years later, started designing the pond. Â
According to the National Gallery of Art:
âHe encircled the basin with a vivacious arrangement of flowers, trees, and bushes, and the next year filled it with water lilies. He added a Japanese-style wooden bridge in 1895, then a few years later started to paint the pond and its water liliesâand never stopped, making them the obsessive focus of his intensely searching work for the next quarter century.â
In 1924, he wrote, âIt took me a long time to understand my water lilies⊠I grew them without thinking of painting them⊠And then, all of a sudden, I had the revelation of the enchantment of my pond. I took up my palette.â
The scarf is pure silk chiffon and is finished with traditional hand-rolled hems. Dry clean only. Made in England.
Dimensions: 71" x 20". Dry clean only. Comes in a box suitable for gifting, along with a card detailing the origins of the image on the scarf.
